The son of a preacher and a teacher, I spent my early life in Indiana and Illinois. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in physics and philosophy at Northwestern University in Chicago, I headed to the East Coast to try my hand with real world applications of my physics degree. I served as a Submarine Warfare Office on board U.S.S. Billifish (SSN 676), then as a Senior Reactor Operator at Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating Station and finally a trainer at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Generating Station.
Then it was time to exercise that philosophy side of my personality. I moved to the Phoenix, Arizona and became an attorney representing unions and progressive causes. I clerked for Arizona Chief Justice Ruth V. McGregor, served as an Assistant Attorney General and am now a partner at Torres Law Group, PLLC.
Throughout my life I have been a devout Christian, most recently serving numerous roles at Chalice Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a progressive congregation that welcomes everyone, encourages curiosity, and takes seriously its roles as a tool of Christ's work in the world.
